THE BRAVE VERIFICATION PROCESS

Brave is committed to running a fair, transparent, and competitive event for all athletes. To keep our "First-Time Only" divisions fair, we verify every athlete’s competition history directly through Smoothcomp and directly with parents.

During registration, every athlete must answer the competition experience question. This helps us place athletes fairly and protect the integrity of our divisions.

Choose this only if the athlete has never participated in any Jiu-Jitsu tournament, anywhere, ever.

Wow! Big step! It's their very first time competing! Amazing! We call it here the "Brave Game Day"!

Choose this if the athlete has participated in any event where they faced an opponent in a structured tournament setting.

 THIS INCLUDES:
• ANY EVENT ON SMOOTHCOMP OR OFF SMOOTHCOMP

• ANY PUBLIC OR PRIVATE BJJ TOURNAMENT

• ACADEMY IN-HOUSE TOURNAMENTS
• ANY EVENT WITH AN OFFICIAL MATCH REFEREE AND SCOREKEEPER
• ANY EVENT WITH FAMILY SUPPORT FROM THE SIDELINES

If the athlete has had even one match under these conditions, they must select “Has Competed Before.” All Smoothcomp profiles must stay public so we can verify competition history. “Not Public” profiles will not be approved.

A "Smoothcomp not public profile" means that a user has activated a setting to hide their competition statistics, ranking data, and personal details from the public. When anyone visits that profile, they will see a message stating, "This profile is not public".

What the Public Cannot See: When a Smoothcomp profile is set to private, the public cannot view:

          • The athlete’s win/loss record and detailed fight results.
         • Statistics such as points earned in any ranking lists.

When a Smoothcomp profile is public, parents and coaches can see the key information that helps everyone make fair, informed decisions when signing up their child for a tournament.

THIS IS BASIC INFORMATION, "FIGHT RECORDS" SUCH AS THE ATHLETE'S NUMBER OF WINS AND LOSSES, WHAT EVENTS HAVE THEY PARTICIPATED IN BEFORE, WHAT THE RESULTS OF THEIR MATCHES WERE, AND HOW MANY TOTAL MATCHES.

That’s it. These basic details allow coaches, parents, and the Brave team to place athletes correctly and ensure a safe, fair experience for all competitors. Private profiles hide this information, making the approval process more difficult, which is why public profiles are required.
