TOURNAMENT DAY!
⏰ Doors Open: 8:00 AM
⏰ Matches Start: 9:00 AM
We use Smoothcomp for all our tournaments. It is an amazing system!
If you already have a Smoothcomp account, we suggest you check to make sure all your information is entered into the system such as birth date, e-mail address, and mobile phone number.
Having a Smoothcomp account makes it very easy for you to stay updated with all the information needed on the day of the tournament such as brackets, schedule, and upcoming matches.
On the top of this page, you will see a link that will lead you directly to the brackets.
Once you go to the BRACKETS, you will see a top menu that has the following three items:
INFO - PARTICIPANTS - MATCHES
Click on the "Matches" so you can apply the filter and search for competitor name.
Apply the filter by typing the competitor's name. Scroll down and click SEARCH.
This will filter everything and only show the matches for the specific competitor.
We suggest typing the LAST NAME since there might be many kids with the same first name. For even better results, you can type in the competitor's FULL NAME.
Once the filter is applied, you will see:
GATE & MATCH START TIME
Done! That is the info you need! That simple!
We keep our brackets moving at a very fast pace! So, competitors must be ready at least 2 hours before that scheduled time!
See you on the mat!
Please ensure the competitor is registered for the correct weight class.
If you need to make any changes to the weight division, don't worry... it's super easy!
To make the change, go to:
✅ YOUR CHILD MUST BE WEIGHED IN AT LEAST 1 HOUR BEFORE THEIR SCHEDULED BRACKET START TIME!
If your child misses weight, it affects our brackets and risks delaying the scheduled divisions. In case of missing weight, our staff will attempt to find a new bracket. However, we can't guarantee it will happen. Please don't miss weight!
Missing weight leaves kids who showed up to the tournament ready and excited to compete, without opponents and many other things affecting other competitors and their families. The first battle is sometimes with the scale. Make sure the competitor wins!!
✅ WEIGH-IN CAN BE WITH OR WITHOUT WEARING A GI
✅ ON TOURNAMENT DAY, WEIGH-IN STARTS AT 8:00 AM
Every competitor will receive 1 (ONE) FREE GENERAL ADMISSION spectator ticket when they check in on tournament day. Additional tickets are available for purchase online.
Kids under 10 enter for FREE!
Parents can also upgrade their free general admission ticket to a VIP ticket for only $50 on tournament day. This will require you to give back your free general admission ticket.
To buy additional tickets go to: https://bravebjj.net/tickets

📲 Thank You!
Brave Jiu-Jitsu and the International Brave Jiu-Jitsu Family Federation (IBJJFF) closely adhere to the standards of the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) with a few exceptions to accommodate our Brave Jiu-Jitsu Kids Tournament Model.
These are the types of brackets we use for our tournaments:
✅ 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝟮 𝗼𝗳 𝟯, 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝟮 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗦 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁.
Brave Jiu-Jitsu follows the true round-robin format (all competitors fight each other) in brackets with 3 to 6 competitors and the standard round-robin format with a maximum number of 6 total matches in brackets with 7 or more competitors. The round-robin bracket puts all competitors in a group and matches them against each other. The round-robin format means all competitors will have multiple different matches and a greater competition experience.
✅ ROUND-ROBIN BRACKET SIZES:
Bracket of 3 = 2 Total Matches Guaranteed
Bracket of 4 = 3 Total Matches Guaranteed
Bracket of 5 = 4 Total Matches Guaranteed
Bracket of 6 = 5 Total Matches Guaranteed
Bracket of 7 or More = Maximum 6 Matches Guaranteed (Maximum 6 Matches Per Participant)
If a competitor cannot continue their matches due to injury, their opponent will be declared the winner via "walkover". Because of the round-robin format, and depending on the total number of competitors in the bracket, teammates might be matched against one another.
When using the round-robin bracket format, there is a possibility that athletes end up with the same amount of wins and if so there is no clear winner. Therefore, "tiebreaker rules" must be added to resolve this situation.
Brave's round-robin tiebreaker order will processed in the following order:
✅ 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱-𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗻, 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝟯 - 𝟲 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗘𝗧𝗜𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗦 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁.
Tiebreaker 1 - Most Number Of Wins (Greater Is Better)
Tiebreaker 2 - Most Number Of Wins By Submission (Greater Is Better)
Tiebreaker 3 - Shortest Total Time In Matches Won (Lowest Is Better)
Tiebreaker 4 - Sum Of Scores In Winning Matches (Greater Is Better)
Tiebreaker 5 - Sum Of All Opponents Score (Lower Is Better)
In the very unlikely and extremely rare situation where the tiebreaker rules cannot determine the winner, an additional match or bracket will be added between those who are still tied This is very unlikely to happen, however, if it does, that's how the bracket winner will be determined.

BRAVE DOES NOT USE THE "ADVANTAGE" SCORING SYSTEM
To score points, competitors must complete the proper technique, demonstrate control and dominance, and be free from any submission holds.
We strongly encourage parents and coaches to ensure they understand the IBJJF rules. Make sure competitor knows what are all the legal and illegal moves!
