All calculations are based on official registration totals shown on Smoothcomp. Each division entered counts as one registration. This means if an athlete competes in Gi, No-Gi, and Takedown, it counts as three separate registrations. This ensures teams are evaluated based on total participation and performance across all divisions.

At Brave Jiu-Jitsu, our goal is simple. We want every child to have a positive, fair, and encouraging competition experience. We are committed to creating events where kids feel supported, are matched fairly, gain confidence, learn respect and sportsmanship, and leave proud of themselves.
Every improvement we make is for the athletes and families who trust us with their experience. Brave Jiu-Jitsu exists because of parents, coaches, and kids like you. Your support allows us to keep raising the standard for youth tournaments and building something truly special for the next generation.
Our events are built to celebrate effort, growth, and sportsmanship, not just winning. Beginning in 2026, we are introducing a new Team Awards System that gives every academy a fair chance to be recognized, whether they have a large or small team.
Team Points Award - Recognizes teams that earn the most medals overall. This rewards teamwork, participation, and consistency.
Points Efficiency Award - Measures how well each team performs on average. This allows smaller teams to shine and keeps competition fair.
Win Rate Award - Recognizes teams that perform strongly in matches based on wins versus total matches.
Overall Champion Trophy - Our highest honor. This award goes to the team that performs well across all categories. It reflects true all-around excellence in teamwork, coaching, and performance.
Some tournaments only reward big teams. We believe every academy deserves a chance to be recognized.
That is why our system balances: total medals, match performance, and performance per athlete. This means both large and small teams can succeed.
✅ Eligibility Basics - To keep results fair and meaningful, teams must meet simple participation minimums based on the total number of actual athletes at the event (not total entries). This ensures that awards are based on real team performance and cannot be skewed by very small teams.
How it works:
Total Athletes at Event ("Athlete" Top Number on Smoothcomp)
Minimum Team Athletes | Minimum Total Matches
300 to 399
15 Min. Team Athletes | 30 Min. Total Matches
400 to 499
20 Min. Team Athletes | 40 Min. Total Matches
500 to 599
25 Min. Team Athletes | 50 Min. Total Matches
600 to 699
30 Min. Team Athletes | 60 Min. Total Matches
700+
35 Min. Team Athletes | 70 Min. Total Matches
This system prevents results from being skewed by very small teams with limited matches, while still giving both small and large academies a fair opportunity to compete for awards. These minimums apply to both the points-per-athlete award and the win-rate award. Teams that meet the requirements qualify for all awards. Teams that do not meet the minimums will still appear in the results and can still earn individual medals.
