Brave Champion Awards: Starting in 2026

All calculations are based on official registration totals shown on Smoothcomp. Each division entered counts as one registration. For instance, if an athlete competes in Gi, No-Gi, and Takedown, it counts as three separate registrations. This approach ensures teams are evaluated based on total participation and performance across all divisions in our youth jiu-jitsu tournaments.

Team Points Award recognizes the total team points, combining Gi and No-Gi results. The Points Per Entry Award is calculated by taking the total points divided by the total entries. The Win Rate Award measures the ratio of wins to total matches played (wins + losses). Finally, the Overall Champion Trophy is awarded based on a combined weighted score across all three awards, celebrating true excellence.

At Brave Jiu-Jitsu, our goal is straightforward: we aim to provide every child with a positive, fair, and encouraging competition experience. We are dedicated to hosting youth jiu-jitsu tournaments where kids feel supported, are matched fairly, gain confidence, learn respect and sportsmanship, and leave the event feeling proud of their efforts.

This support empowers us to continually elevate the standard for youth tournaments and create something truly remarkable for future generations.

Our events are constructed to honor effort, growth, and sportsmanship, rather than solely focusing on winning. Starting in 2026, we will introduce a new team awards system that ensures every academy, regardless of size, has an equitable chance for recognition. 

The Team Points Award will acknowledge teams that earn the most medals overall, rewarding teamwork, participation, and consistency. The Points Efficiency Award will evaluate how well each team performs on average, allowing smaller teams to shine and maintaining fair competition. The Win Rate Award will recognize teams that excel in matches based on their win-to-match ratio. Ultimately, the Overall Champion Trophy represents our highest honor, awarded to the team that demonstrates excellence across all categories, reflecting true teamwork, coaching, and performance.

Some tournaments only reward larger teams, but we believe every academy deserves recognition. Our system balances total medals, match performance, and individual athlete performance, allowing both large and small teams to thrive.

✅ Eligibility Basics: To maintain fairness and significance in results, teams must meet simple participation minimums based on the total number of actual athletes present at the event (not total entries). This measure ensures that awards are based on genuine team performance and cannot be skewed by very small teams.

This system prevents results from being distorted by very small teams with limited matches, while still providing both small and large academies a fair opportunity to compete for awards. These minimums apply to both the points-per-athlete award and the win-rate award. Teams that meet these requirements will qualify for all awards, while those that do not meet minimums will still appear in the results and can earn individual medals.
