🦁 BRAVE CHAMPION AWARDS: STARTING IN 2026

Brave Jiu-Jitsu has come a long way! What started as a small idea has turned into something very special! A place where kids can challenge themselves, have fun, and learn lessons that go way beyond the mat!

None of this would be possible without you. Every parent who takes their child to train, every coach who puts in hours of training with their students, and every athlete who steps up to compete has helped Brave grow. Your support is what keeps everything moving forward. Because of you, each event gets smoother, better organized, and more exciting. You’ve helped us build something real, and we’re just getting started!

Beginning in 2026, Brave will introduce a new Team Awards System.

The goal is simple: to recognize different kinds of success and make sure every academy, big or small, has a fair chance to be celebrated.

THE FOUR AWARDS

We created four categories to highlight the unique strengths of each team.

Some bring large numbers and dominate the podium. Others bring smaller, more efficient teams, and some balance everything with consistency and heart. Each award represents a different kind of excellence.

TEAM CHAMPION AWARD

Honors total medal production across the team.

"Standard" Scoring: 9 points for Gold, 3 for Silver, and 1 for Bronze.

This award celebrates participation, teamwork, and overall consistency.

EFFICIENCY CHAMPION AWARD: POINTS PER ATHLETE

Recognizes how well each athlete performs on average.

Formula: Total team points divided by total number of athletes.

This highlights efficiency and coaching quality. 

Smaller teams often stand out here by making the most of every match.

Only teams that meet the eligibility requirements below qualify for this award.

EFFICIENCY CHAMPION AWARD: WIN RATE

Focuses purely on match performance.

Formula: Wins divided by total matches (Wins + Losses).

It rewards technical preparation and fight success.

Only teams that meet the eligibility requirements below qualify for this award.

OVERALL CHAMPION AWARD

This is Brave’s most complete award!

It honors teams that perform well in every area: medals, efficiency, and win rate.

Only teams that meet the eligibility requirements below qualify for this award.

Each part counts the same toward the final score:

Total Points | Weight: 33.33%

Rewards medal results using the 9-3-1 system.

Win Rate | Weight: 33.33%

Rewards consistent match performance.

Points per Athlete (PPA) | Weight: 33.33%

Rewards team efficiency per competitor.

All three values are balanced so both large and small academies have a fair chance. This award represents true all-around excellence: teamwork, coaching, and performance combined.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To make results fair, each event has minimum requirements based on total participation.

Teams must meet both the athlete and match requirements to qualify for Efficiency and Overall awards.

Tier 1: 200 – 300 Total Athletes

Minimum Athletes: 10

Minimum Total Matches (Wins + Losses): 20

Tier 2: 301 – 400 Total Athletes

Minimum Athletes: 15

Minimum Total Matches (Wins + Losses): 30

Tier 3: 401 – 500 Total Athletes

Minimum Athletes: 20

Minimum Total Matches (Wins + Losses): 40

Tier 4: 501 – 600 Total Athletes

Minimum Athletes: 25

Minimum Total Matches (Wins + Losses): 50

Teams that don’t meet these requirements will still appear in the results but only count toward the Team Champion award.

EXAMPLE: NEXT BRAVE KIDS EVENT

Total Athletes: 375

This event would fall under Tier 2.

To qualify for all four awards, a team must have at least 15 athletes and at least 30 total matches (wins plus losses). Teams that meet both will appear in all award categories. Teams that don’t, will still show in results but only count for Team Champion points.
